Icicle Maturity

Graduating high school seemed so far

Now it is closing in and up comes the bar

It reminds me of icicles hanging outside my window

The ones that are pretty and long and hang low

Layers come off the spiked frozen water as it gets warmer

Just as life moves and time slips away as it gets further

The spike at the end can be dangerous and deadly even

Just as life can be if you don't stay alert and ahead

Layers melt and time slips

I am determined not to let it slip without making a difference in this world
