Rosa 'FREEDOM' Parks
There She Sat
The First Seat
To Rest Her Feet
Tired From A Day Of Work
She Sat And Looked
Out The Window Until The Next Stop
When The White Man Would Hop
On And Change Her Life.
Up!
He Said.
Move Back, You're Black,
You Don't Belong up here.
Just Move To The Rear!
Rosa Sat Unamused
She Refused To Move.
The bus wouldn't go.
The world had to know
Just how this tired woman
Lent her hand
To empower the nation
To break free of evasion
Confront the world head on
Freedom!
Her actions yelled.
Louder than any word,
Loud enough to alert the world.
To break the chain
Release the reins
They no longer control
We shall be our own
She made a difference,
Without making a move.
Her tired old feet,
Refused to meet
The expectations of the white man
She held her own in a new way
THE new way.
Never forget.
Always forgive.
But stand your ground.
Never back down.
