My Homeland.....Africa!!!

Africa Oh Africa

Africa of whom my grandmother sings

On the banks of the distant rivers

I have never known or seen you

But your blood flows in my viens

Your beautiful black blood that irrigates the fields

The blood of your sweat

The sweat of your hard work

The work of your slavery

The slavery of your children

Africa Oh Africa

Is this you this back that is bent

This back that breaks under the weight of humiliation

This back bleeding with red scars

And taking the whips under the midday sun

But a grave voice answers me

That tree there

In splendid loneliness amidst white and faded flowers

That is Africa....My homeland....Africa!!

That grows again patiently obstinately

And its fruit gradually acquire

The bitter taste of liberty

My Homeland.........AFRICA!!!

My favorite part about this poem is when it says ''Your beautiful black blood that irrigates the fields'' because its saying how many years ago all africans would suffer with their bare hands without food and water and how their blood flows gently in us. Another part is like is when it says '' The bitter taste of liberty'' because they soon got their freedom and never have to witness that sufferings they suffered.
