An Image

An image

by Ima Ríos

I have an image on my mind.

A memory.

A memento.

A picture that is yours.

Yours and mine.

Its about you, me and our love.

I have an image on my head.

An indelible remembrance

of you

of me

of us.

An engraving that smells like salt

and dances at the melody of the blue.

A memory of the wind inviting the birds and us to smile.

A reminiscence burned by the sunlight of our dreams.

I have an embed image on my mind.

A picture of me feeling safe.

A vision of me in your arms

of your arms surrounding me.

I have an image on my head.

A memory.

A repressed memento.

A flaw.

I have you on my mind.

you

me

us

You, me and the sea.

You, me and an embrace.

Me in your arms.

The smell of sweet salt.

Your smile.

My smile.

The music of the waves.

I have an image on my mind.

A memory.

A memento:

a little girl in the arms of her mother,

both bathed by the waters of Rincón

both loving one another.

I have an image on my mind.

A memory.

A necessary memento.

I have you

here

at last.
