Two hundred twenty thousand words in the dictionary,
and you chose gay.
Countless adjectives in every language,
and you chose gay.
Enlighten me, don't be cautionary,
because your choice was made.
It's not defined by age;
they didn't choose to be this way.
Blame them for who they are,
for their unconditional love.
Brand them with names that scar,
the ones they're sick of.
No one chose this life,
but they proudly live it.
Even through all the strife
that they are given.
When you're faced with a choice,
don't forget to remember:
everyone has a voice,
one that rings forever.
Orientation aside,
gay, straight, lesbian, transgender, or bi,
you have a choice,
and they have a right.

Your poem certainly applies to today's society and hopefully if other people read this, the next generation will be more careful and caring with the words they use.
