Between Two Worlds

Thu, 11/14/2024 - 22:14 -- Fareeha

I remember the day the silence grew,
The house felt empty, voices few.
In rooms where laughter used to play,
Echoes lingered, faded away.

A split, a crack I couldn’t see,
Now two halves make my family.
They pulled apart, and with them tore
The life I knew, what came before.

Two homes now hold my scattered things,
Two doors, two lives, two sets of strings.
I drift between, a wanderer bound,
In spaces lost, yet newly found.

They say it’s best, they say it’s right,
But some things shatter, lost from sight.
And though they smile and say I’m free,
I ache for things that used to be.

Photos linger, memories stay,
Of days when we were one, not frayed.
Yet time moves on, and so must I,
Learning to mend, though hearts may sigh.

Between two worlds, I try to grow,
To find myself, to learn, to know
That love can bend but still be whole,
Even in fragments, I find my soul.
