Drowning in Shame

What a failure you are

To be proud of

How well

you’ve kept

Your innocence

Just to ruin it all

On a night

Drowning in booze

And loud music

And lust.

To be seen as a prude

And proud to take the title

As you brag about how you

Never

Could

Imagine

Being like everyone else.

Just to fall into a bed that isn’t yours

And then fall into the sin of raging desire

And then fall

Fall

Fall

Until you no longer can.

But it’s your own fault

Because you dug your own hole

The second you followed your desires down those stairs.

The second you felt

Pretty.

The second you felt

Wanted.

The second you felt

Seen.

Well you were indeed pretty

And wanted

And seen

But now you are disgusting

And used

And seen

As just another college girl

Who’s easy to get

And even easier to get

rid of.

So what a failure you are,

To be proud of someone you

Definitely

Are not.
