Head vs Heart

I love them,

But I slowly fear,

That even if I’d like to have them feel the same way,

That I’d be their worst mistake.

I want to hold them close,

I’d want to have them near,

But because of my fear,

I now realise,

That,

They are a majestic swan,

Floating above the glistening water,

Yet I am an atrocious monster,

Lurking in the shadows.

Wanting to get close,

Tempted by my sadistic thoughts and my malice.

They are a beauty,

I am a nuisance.

I don’t deserve them,

They deserve much more.

All I’ll do is hurt them,

Burden them,

. . .

I want to love them,

But what if they hate me?

I want to be by their side,

But what if they push me away?

I want to be there to comfort them,

But what if they just get worse?

I want to help them,

…

. . .

But what if I hurt them?
