The words

Wed, 06/03/2020 - 13:16 -- Dee S

The words hurt the most.

The physical abuse hurts too but you go through the healing process and it’s over.

It makes you look different/feel sore for a while but the words stick to your skin.

The words never leave you.

The words have the ability to change you, to make you dislike your very own self, to make you think you’re

 not beautiful, not worthy.

The words they stick to your skin and your mind.

The words they haunt you.

No matter how far back you push them in your mind at any given time they can resurface and make you

 remember all over again.

The words, the words they stick to your skin.

They make you cry, they make you laugh, they make you die within.

It’s the words that hurt the most in the abuse.

You start to believe those words are true, so much so you even start to question yourself.

The words, the words they stick to your skin.

Those horrifying words dwell within.

They taunt you, make you feel like a joke.

The words, the words they stick to your skin.

It takes a lot to forget the verbal sin.
