The Power of Poetry

Mon, 07/09/2018 - 21:03 -- Rmcates

It has taught me how to express myself in ways actions could not.
It has molded me into someone who does not use the words can not.
I can do something about anything if I really want to do it, but it's interesting how poetry taught me just how much I could accomplish if I put my mind to it.
It was sunny and just so happened to be my mom's birthday.
My brother had challenged me, declared that he could make something better for she.
So I wrote her a card but not just any, one that rymed with all sorts of compliments that suited and defined.
She loved it of course and I was the self proclaimed winner, even though my brother had stated that he was the victor.
As I sat in my room after a long day of fun, I realized that the challenge had only begun.
Poetry had made my mom smile and had given me the courage to go the extra mile to be someone worthwhile.
