Lost In The Bronx River

By: Tyree Jackson

Violent ripples disrupt
the river’s placid flow.
Her body— seeping into
the pores of a
young black boy—filling them
like buckets.
A crimson moon reflects
from his widen eyes.
A river of blood, turning
fish upside down as
his body floats downstream—
sinking, entirely into her abyss.
