A Red Rose

Beautiful at the sight

Painful to the touch.

They say looks are deceiving

But that is just too much

To assume about a thing born of nature.

Unlike a caricature

Its dimensions are real.

It desires what anything else would:

To grow,

To love,

To be loved,

To be held and adored.

And then to quietly, peacefully

Die.
