I am a Poet

Write whatever you want, she said

I thought about it as I took paper and lead

It was dull at first sight

But inside my mind came a bright light

My love, my struggles, my tears

My joy, my dreams, my deepest fears

And there, I turned my life into poetry

I wrote of another world

Where I had a father

Where I had enough money to buy the books I couldn’t afford

Where my late friends would be able to look into the sky

With no pain, no suffering

Poetry became my passion, a heartfelt prayer

Poetry became an answer for an inner saviour
