Mere Glances

With each step that we take,
We begin a journey,
That can never be stopped by anyone,
We look back to see the past,
But that path no longer exists.
All that lingers are memories,
Of the deeds we have committed,
Whether good or bad.
We look onward towards the future,
But it's pitch black.
We see nothing,
But a pathway,
A road full of rocks,
Pebbles that would leave marks on our bodies.
And we look at today,
A shining day,
So bright that it could blind people.
We see nothing
But a reflection of ourselves,
It is us.
It is our life.

The future,
Contains nothing but a path for us to follow,
The past,
Contains nothing but memories for us to look back upon,
And the present,
Contains nothing but us and the world we live in.
