I Wait

In my vast, lonely turmoil
I wait for you.
I never give up,
I wait.
I spend my last penny
In hope that I will find
You in my endless search intertwined
In your work.
I wait.
It’s been one hundred years or more,
I’m waiting for you to come walking through that door.
I wait.
Till that one day when the tranquil nights will fill our hearts once again
like melted sugar inside hard candy.
I wait.
I’ve waited and waited and finally our lips touch, reiterating because
It’s been awhile since they last met.
My treacherous wait is over, and we’re together at last.
