Because I Love You Sonnet

Modern stories of love end in a fire,

With infidelity mistaken flame,

Is still confused with what is true desire,

And each relationship has fights of blame.

The three words used as an excuse,

That maybe “love” can fix a broken soul.

This “love” confuses truth and heart with ruse,

False love to leave them anything but whole.

But truth and love are meant to have no price,

To say you love you promise to protect,

To say you love you lie not once nor twice,

And be in thought thy soul should not neglect.

To love not once but always day by day,

But truth, I say my love is here to stay.
