The Spring

A relationship must be like the spring

When I am free from feeling winter's breath

Which tears up my skin, leaving a burning sting.

A relationship must be like the cherry blossom tree

Sturdy and rare

But willing its petals to be free.

A relationship must be like the season's shower

The storm will come and pass letting flowers bloom

But it must not be mistaken with a hurricane that only lets us cower.

A relationship must not be like the fall

Where the warm hues of the leaves showcase their beauty,

But they fall because they're dead, making them no good at all.

A relationship must not be like the winter

As it is ruthless and cold,

With the touch of snow on bare hands feeling like a million splinters.

A relationship must not be like summer

Who is uncompromising and hot-headed,

So much so that one will stay awake at night waiting for slumber.

Love is like the spring,

Though it may rain, only beauty arises.

Hate is all the other seasons bring.
