Once Upon A Poem Contest

Whether it is sooner or later, people will reveal their true colors. Eventually, the sparkling gleam of fairytales and new beginnings fades into the dark enchanted woods of reality. Imperfections. Losses. Disappointments. Failures. But, that does not mean the story is meant to be over. It does not mean the magic is gone. Even the greatest of queens and most super of heroes battle good and evil within themselves every day. Sometimes we win, sometimes we lose. A lot. But the capes and tiaras weigh us all down every now and then. Our masks are not always the easiest to put on. Righteousness and justice in a world of toxic temptation is not an easy feat, no matter what our powers hold. And every day when it is time to decide between saving the world or saving ourselves, we face a choice: To rise in the rain or to fall into the fire. To take apples from witches, to slay dragons, or even to turn the other cheek. So, no matter how twisted the fairytale gets, no matter how many lines get blurred between good and evil, it is important to remember that happily ever after is not always a happy journey. Our mistakes do not make us the villains, but the amount of times we allow them to happen and change our story--do.
