The Broken Glass

Long since past, it happened so.

I looked into that broken glass,

And looking back into my eye,

Was one who happened to be blind.

Admittedly I did not care,

I had no hope for future goals,

No great ambition to obtain,

Nor crushing defeat to be feared.

Years and years this pain went on.

I blindly wandered to and fro,

Seeking that which I had long since lost

Somewhere with that broken glass.

Finally I had to say,

"I know not who I am,

I know not what I do,

I only know that I am lost."

Admission was what it took,

To finally break that trance.

To bring me out of the dark,

And find that thing I had long since lost.

My inspiration found at last,

Drove me forward into the light

To seize the day, to make my own

To make the world a better place.
