The hardships that we’ve gone through
Yeah there’s been quite a few
Bouncing back is the tough part
But we’ve been able to break through

The twin towers were collapsing
And everyone in despair
Nobody knew what was happening
It was something we couldn’t bare

When we thought it was all over
And time to break down
We applauded the fire fighters
Nobody thought to frown

It was a time to stick together
To help anybody in need
As long as we helped each other out
Our success was guaranteed

When a little town named Sandy Hook
Was suddenly known worldwide
Everybody was stunned
Had no US pride

Just imagining those children
Having that fear in their eyes
If you thought about it long enough
You could almost hear their cries

It was a time of hatred and sorrow
Everyone felt a little shaken
Nobody knew what to do
With this very sad information

We lit candles and sent teddy bears
It never felt like enough
We wanted to love and support
But what they went through was just so rough

We as a nation are indivisible
We will never divide
Even at the worst times
We still have our US pride
