My Favorite Alarm

Buried under the covers,

safe and sound,

 until suddenly

I feel a wet nose in my ear sniffing around.

In a daze I roll over,

unfit to be aroused,

but Gabby is persistent,

she announces the day with a resounding woofing sound.

She kisses my ears, nose and cheeks

until, that is, I admit defeat.

We both stretch and I throw back the sheets,

so happy that my alarm clock is my dog, Gabby.
