From the Other Side of the Mountain

From the Other Side of the Mountain

I look long into the dreary water,
Desperately trying to find the answer,
Only to see empty reflections…of myself,
As I ponder my future with uncertainty,
My soul screams out for clarity…
And, I try to put my existence on the shelf.

I’m lost in the mountains,
Dewdrops I’m counting
With no GPS to guide me.

The burning sun teases the sweat on my palms,
And I can only hold onto my song of psalms,
Fruitlessly, I tried to define…my presence,
my ignorance threw me to the pleasures of the wind,
But now, my joys, I rescind…my hopes, I rescind…
I scream out into the wind until I’m breathless.

This side of the mountain is rough and weary,
Absence of its crowning jewelry,
What belied my vanity, but spite?!
Standing in the sun, I scream to be free…
From me….
Lord, I give myself as a living sacrifice.

Dewdrops I’m counting,
But from the other side of the mountain,
God is waiting to carry me.
