A Flint is All I Need

We've all played this game before,

I recall a specific time, and back then I thought it was a bore.

It was seventh grade and our teacher said we all got the answer wrong,

because we all wanted to bring a tarp, water, food, or a friend that was lifelong.

I understand the desire of company, or something to keep you sane,

but lets be real here, if I want to survive, I have to use my brain!

My teacher taught me many years ago that a flint is all I would need.

A flint can start fires, so airplanes would see me even if going at full speed.

A fire can also cook food, and desalinate water.

A flint can double as a weapon, to ward off squatters.

While this may not be the most sentimental thing to bring along,

it would keep me alive long enough to get back to the ones I love.

I really love this! You used a object that I would've never thought of as an instrument for so much.
