Dangling Dolls

Mommy always said

she wanted to be a doll

pretty, flawless, adored

she owned so many

I couldn't touch them

Now she was a doll

she was limp, pretty, and so pale

I had to touch the doll

all dolls must be cold

their hearts do not beat
