I Can Be A Hero Too

I don’t wear a cape.

I don’t wear leggings

Or my underwear outside of my clothes.

I don’t fly.

I don’t see through walls.

I don’t bend things with my mind.

I don’t talk to fish.

I don’t have super strength.

I do wear what I want to

Whether it be skinny jeans,

Baggy clothes,

Or something in between.

I do listen.

I do care.

I do love.

I do cry.

I do have a heart.

I’m the kid in the corner of the room

Made fun of for being different.

I’m the popular kid

Who always tries to fit in

Even when I know it’s wrong.

I’m the weird kid who saves frogs.

I’m the adults who still secretly believe in faeries

And the children who find themselves too old to.

I can be anyone around you.

I may not mean much in the big picture

But I can be a superhero in my own mind.
