Lose the Veil

Lose the veil, lose the veil

I’ve watched her watch herself

Watched her stare and realize that what she sees is it

That is the face she has to live with for the rest

of her life

And I’ve watch her cry about it

Watched her body convulsing with the salty steams

over a diamond mistaken for coal

She does not see what I see

Those limbs she tries to shrink and pull and hide

under heavy fabric

To me are only golden pillars upholding the crown jewel

That tongue she tapes to the roof her mouth to stop

her assumingly unwanted voice from creeping out

To me is a crime against the swan songs of someone who means something

I’ve watched her fight herself down into the ground

Bleeding profusely with emotion

And this time I cannot watch

This time she must see what I see

Lose the veil, lose the veil

See that you have the body that breaks hearts

See that you have the mind that surpasses human evolution

See that you have the voice that splits mountains

See that you are wanted

See that you are loved

See that your only FLAW is that you think LESS of yourself

Lose the veil, lose the veil

I watched her rise on her own two feet

I watched her see what I have always seen

I watched her grown into a being entirely without flaw or imperfections

Just from the belief that she could be flawless

I watched her rip the veil from her eyes

I watched her watch herself

I watched her watch me

As the veil fell into inexistence

She has lost the veil

We have lost the veil
