Be Free

There was this one boy,

who treated every girl like his little toy.

But that wasn’t who he was inside,

he just needed to hide.

He acted all confident and self-assure,

when in reality, he was just looking of the “cure”.

To fix the one thing

that he knew would bring,

his parents to shame.

And to have everyone treat him the same.

All he wanted was to please them,

and not have them condemn,

something that wasn’t his choice in the first place.

He really just needed some breathing space.

So he turned to drinking alcohol and smoking weed,

ANYTHING to fill this hole, this need.

Because if they ever found out,

he just knew, without a doubt,

they’d be too disappointed to even look.

So he just kept it in his little “black book”.

Hidden from no one, except his mom and dad.

That their son, the “new grad”,

WAS GAY.

See that’s what’s wrong with today.

He was too afraid to tell them,

only because he knew that it would cause complete mayhem.

And he was right.

When he finally told them, they told him to get out, tonight.

And now he’s not the same person I once knew,

all because he doesn’t have a clue,

who to be when he’s disappointing his parents,

so now he’s just piecing together fragments,

of who he has to be,

when all he needs is to be free.
