In My Christmas-themed Mug

Location

In my Christmas-themed mug is a black bitter brew
Piping hot
I add some creamer to it
And stir it up
Down it down my maw
And ponder
What to write
Or what to type
Or a combination of the two
As I sip my coffee and stare
At the window as the black
Night fades into a sky of
Turquoise blue.
Random thoughts flood
My head the first of which
Are some verses from the
Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam:
"Wake for the Sun,
Who scattered into flight
The stars before him
In the field of night,"
Then T.S. Eliot
Protrudes into view:
"I shall wear white flannel
Trousers and walk along the
Beach and hear the Mermaids singing, each to
Each," But silly, there are no
Beaches in Casa Grande
But plenty of scorching
Desert sands.
