Death is Unforgiving

Death is unforgiving
Death is hard
For anyone
To explain death to a child
Who has just lost a mother, father, their family
Gone….
Death is unbearable
The children’s eyes don’t gleam
The innocence is gone
They work, not play
Even their writing, drawing, poems
Reflect the pain inside
All of us
Death is unexplainable
This death is
It is unnatural
Living, then, dead
The lucky ones die of disease, the cold,
Hunger.
The others….
Death is unimaginable
Here, there is no imagination
We don’t have to imagine death
It is there, everywhere,
We close our eyes to the sight
But the sound…
The smell…
The taste…
No one comes back from the dead
Death is unforgiving
