Happiness in Two Places

I saw a bright light,

In the midst of this blight,

When nothing else seemed to go well.

Then with all of my might,

I strove to go and right,

Everything that should've been so swell.

But I felt myself dying,

When I saw my dear friend crying,

And my heart didn't know what to do.

Everything it was trying,

So that I'd be complying,

In the end only made me just as blue.

So I prayed for my friend,

That she'd be happier in the end,

And the smiles and laughter soon returned to her face.

All the energy I would spend,

For the benefit of my dear friend,

So that happiness could stay in this place.
