Talulah

Talulah, she comes dancing

Below the cloudless sky;

She’s glowing in the moonlight,

I know she’ll never die.

Talulah, always singing

Her songs just like the birds,

Only ever little tunes

That don’t have any words.

Talulah, she went swimming

Along the stone-still creek;

She dives just like a dolphin

And comes up with a squeak.

Talulah, she goes running

Up the grassy hill;

I call and tell her to stay close

And not go near the mill.

Talulah, she don’t listen

And always runs ahead;

She disappears into the dark,

I fear she’ll wind up dead.

Talulah, she loves dancing

Below the cloudy sky;

There is no snow white moon tonight

To hold her as she dies.
