Adaption

I thought civilization was made to remove the need for survival

We built cities to avoid jungles

Not even noticing the skyscrappers growing leaves.

Cementing the ground to dull the nails of beast

Placed them in cages to celebrate their defeat

But now new beast roam wild and free.

We as humans tend to ignore

the subtle breaths and pulsing viens.

Instead insist on generic actions

Defining all we do and say.

Copied conversations drifting to each pack

Gestures taken with empty eyes

Loose exchanges and tightened words

All of this just to survive.

Yet behind closed doors I feel most free

No roses to paint or teas to have

Just the naked splendor of empty space

Supporting all my dreams, my hopes, and laughs.
