running through snow
i didn't write a daydream about you today
instead i pulled apart all the flowers you once planted
i trimmed the dark roses scattered across my face
uprooted the soft yellow tulips that sprang up on my arms
and cut away the pink hollyhocks that blossomed along my thighs
all your words and our moments
every smile and quick kisses
were tiny seeds that made their homes on my body
a body now lush with a fresh garden since
you taught me to love myself and
look for the soil within the parts i once thought were barren
