As We Combine
I believe in the string theory. I believe in the multiverse theory.
Simply because I need to know that somewhere out there exists
A world in which you and I have come together to be one; because
I know that in this world I will not have the pleasantries of belonging
And being able to use the words “yours” and apply it to you, unless
Of course I am referring to myself as “your friend” or perhaps something
Drastic, like saying “not your first choice, or your second, maybe your fifth?”.
Because in this universe I do not exist as some particle or galaxy that
Lights up your being; I am not your source of motivation or the reason you
Decide to wake up for another day. I do not have that power here.
So maybe in another universe there is a you and an I and we belong as one,
To each other, freely. Maybe in another universe there is a you and I and I
Have the chance to run my fingers down your back, or kiss the scruff
That has grown on your face since you shaved this morning or
A universe where you and I combine as one in our bed, one mess
In the blankets that we share.
In the blankets that we share.
