If there was one thing I would change in this world

it would be a point in time where my life changed

such an insignificant moment that caused such devastation

as if my whole world collapsed and left me nothing

with only an empty shell residing by the street 

if only I would have known sooner

 

In that brief moment, anything could have happened

however it was destiny that designated that point in time

like the text in a book, it was printed in ink and irreversible

there was nothing I can do and  fate had me

trapped in its inescapable clutches

 

She was a sweet little old lady

went to church everyday and helped out anyone who needed it

Hate was not part of her vocabulary for it did not exist to her

if there were ever a being that existed in this world that was only composed of pure goodness

it would be her

 

On that fateful day I was buying groceries with my family

but we had a small car and not enough room to carry what we had bought

we contemplated on making a round trip in order to get everything to our house

but I decided to stay behind and I offered to run home

the impulse to run is something I will never be able to explain

 

As I ran, I felt happy and exhilarated 

there was nothing that could stop me 

I ran like the wind and without a care in the world

 at the point of crossing the street across my house

I quickly went over to helped carry the groceries

 

And it was then and at that time the incident occurred

A harsh and quick screeching sound with the sound of glass breaking

it was nothing like what you would hear on TV or the movies

it was a sound that no one could ever forget

a car accident occurred

 

Although it looked painful

Although there was blood

and although I didn't knew who it was at the time

it was quick and instantaneous 

she didn't feel a thing nor saw it coming

 

The point of time I would change is the time I spent running

If only I had ran a little later

if only I walked

if only I had a chance to walk her down the street

I would rewrite history and fate just for that day
