the platinum aorta

is the molten shining core

of the shimmering star babe I love.

wrapped in tarnished silver foil

speckled with stars and stones

and filled carefully like a candy mold

with soft galaxies and obsidian

and goldfish and moths and bioluminescent fungi

and tiny shards of glittering diamond.

and the eyes, the beautiful eyes

full of molten lava and constellations

seeping out through the golden cavern mouth

and the treetop fingertips.
