Beautiful
Beautiful
I see girls with flawless faces
Golden tan skin from minority races
And I tell myself that I am beautiful
I see girls run miles in the gym
Their arms toned, stomach flat, legs thin
And I tell myself that I am beautiful
And I tell myself that I am beautiful
I see girls wearing designer jeans
Clothes I cannot afford by any means
And I tell myself that I am beautiful
I see girls with long thick hair
Locks that don’t frizz in the hot, humid air
And I tell myself that I am beautiful
I look in the mirror and sigh with defeat
As I notice my flaws from my head to my feet
My smile has yellowed, my nose isn’t straight
My body illustrates that I struggle with weight
But I also see my eyes shining – speckled with light
And my curled red hair glowing fiery and bright
And I know that I am beautiful

Very refreshing poem! I love the comparison of superficiality to reality. Well done :)

This really moved me, and I truly relate to how you feel. I try tell myself every day that I am beautiful but sometimes it just isnt enough, you know? Nice to see I'm not the only one out there with thoughts like these.
Beautiful poem. Beautiful writing. Beautiful person. :)
