Why did I choose health care?

Why did I choose health care?
I clean up fluids that come out of usual and unusual places.
I am yelled at for things that I have no control over.
Hit for reasons unknown, even to the one who hit me.
I watch my residents come and go, some because they are better and others because they are called to the great unknown.
I see the families who are devastated for the pain the family member is going through, and I have seen the families who are indifferent.
I have watched my residents lose their minds, bodies, and spirits.
I see them at their worst and rarely at their best.
I take care of them, to the best of my ability.
Even when I am going through pain, and in the times I just want to curl up in a ball and cry, I take care of them.
I smile and give them my attention when they need it and even when they don't think they need it.
Some touch our hearts and some will drive us insane, but we still care for them.
Why did I choose health care?
Because I live for the times I impact someone's life.
Because I want to make their last moments peaceful.
Because I love my job.
