Pray

Like a sea without the roaring waters,
The tears pouring down my brown-skinned cheeks are dry
To now imagine a motherless son and daughter,
Leaves a once jovial home with moans and sighs.
But I choose to no longer cry.
I pray.

I guess I can say your new residence is 6 feet deep.
Flowers lay on your casket and your name engraved on the stone,
Transitioning from a Maya Angelou-type phenomenal woman
To a weak, powerless patient had us all completely mind blown.
But my heart is where your name is sewn.
So I pray.

Yes, cancer is a real female dog.
It won the battle but it can never win the war,
God has the ultimate weapon: His word, enclosed with a promise:
His children shall meet in His Everlasting Kingdom once more.

Life's such a mystery;
The answer to "why" is but light years away,
The inevitable might not always be a victory,
And time is surely not handed to all on a golden tray.
But I gift each and every passing day.
I Pray.
