he claims to be..........the baseball star
Location
He sits, waiting impatiently
seizing a moment where he waits for one of his teammates to fall
Seconds feel like hours
he taunts excessive trash , claiming to be the man
He feels his heart beat
Blood throbs through his veins
The anticipation is disingenuine
His stomach claims to be in knots
His nerves are not as overwhelming as it may seems
But yet, excitement surrounds him
His teammates, his coaches watch with disgust
Eyes wide open
he wants that chance
He awaits arrogantly
His teammates sitting along the dugout
He hears the huge crowd roar
He sees the bright lights shining on the diamond
He feels the fresh cut grass beneath his cleats
He is feeling himself
Sweat drizzles off his face
His heart pounds out of his chest
This was the moment
he pinch hit for a starter
what happens
he struck out
he flopped
Year after year, he realizes
Every game, every pitch, every at bat
everyone watched and saw who he really was
when the game ended
He knows it is his last game
His last chance, his last moment
He sits, waiting
Hours feel like seconds
Why does it go by so fast?
He feels his heart beat
Blood throbs through his veins
The anticipation is unbearable
He understood the meaning of patience
adrenaline rush that shot up fast like an injection of heroine by a dope fiend
His heart seems to stop
He hears nothing but sharp ringing
He sees the crowd stand to their feet
He steps on the field for what might be his last chance
Sweat drizzles off his face
His heart pounds out of his chest
This is his moment he's been waiting for
and here comes the pitch
it was a two seam fastball with no bite
he ripped a two run shot over right field bleaches
it was the game winning hit
home team won, crowd roared
he finally understood
what it took to be a professional
from that point on, he was very humbled
that game he became .........the baseball player everyone was waiting for
he knew it too
it was only a matter of time when he got his chance
this time, he was quiet
his game did the talking, not his mouth
