Poems about Immigration
i hear the world screaming, the sickening wails i hear;
those of the hopeless—each of them a separate and eerie tune
Beads of sweat
Running down
My forehead
I cant think straight
Im face to face
What. Is America?
Is it
the juxtaposition of pink toned flesh
against deep caramel skin?
Bitter cold flakes.
Laughs muffled by heavy coats
The crunch of snow as we head to the car
Holding hands
Here I am,
Finally!,
A second before I take that step,
I reflect,
My eyes perceive multiple worlds,
They say we will never win,
They say we are filled with sin,
They say we’re not good enough,
I don’t know much about the world, economy, politics and what not
I didn’t know about slavery or racism at all for that matter
Did you know?
Did you know that right now, in this very second, there are people crossing?
I concur.
If it's against my religion,
it should be illegal.
And while we're passing laws,
Calluses riddle his palms that were tender once
Marks of the weary
Marks of the worried
