He barks so loud
Right in my ear
Like the most annoying alarm.
“Time to get up.”
He yips.
“I am starving.”
I just want to sleep
Roll over and never get up.

In the winter
When I'm down and want to feel better,
I call my friend Peter,
'Cause he's a great skater.
We walk to the rink
In the cold and snow.
We wish we had minks
A wag for a smile
A nudge for a pet
A lick for a laugh
A cuddle for a hug
A fetch for a ball
Would you look at that
I'm happy after all
