The days can only get tougher
And life can only get harder-
But when I walk in the door and am greeted by your excitement-
My day can only get better,
And my smile can only get brighter.
HAPPY PLACE
When I couldn’t find it in the bluerubber swings that had hung themselveswith a rusted noose from decade-old woodat the city park, I drove on.
A rectangular box shouldn’t be my happy place.
Many say it is unhealthy,
That my mind will turn to jelly,
But it is my escape.
Through the dark of night, my world is lit.
I venture to far off lands.
Each night, when no one is listening
Angels come from far and near
A look upon the surface will show eyes glistening
As their hurried paste signaled fear,
Or maybe lonesome, as some might say
Inbetween the mountains I lay
Waiting for a warm breeze.
These days are rare now.
I look around,
I see beautiful, towering trees.
The snow on the mountain tops shines.
