"A river with no bed is just a flood",
That’s what I tell myself as the water digs through me,
It carves itself a resting place inside my heart.
Humpty Dumpty fell.
Off a wall.
He's an egg.
He cracked.
Broke.
He probably broke inside, too.
And he smiled.
He couldn't get fixed.
He got fixed a bit on the outside, though.
I'm a grown-up now.
And I do grown-up things.
Like pay my taxes, cry at night,
And wear engagement rings.
And I'm a grown-up now.
So I only watch the news,
I drown unfamiliar feelings,
