Wrenched from my teeth and thrown to the breeze like confetti,

Our brutish bullets' babble
Battered this cathedral,
Corroded ancient heavens
That dawned in its arching dome,
Crumbled blue-veined marble...
A dismal shroud slunk
From slackened hands,
Dense rain draped the valley
In its musty, velvet folds,
Dogfighting flurries of
Paper...
In the slushy shine of winter mornings,
The harsh, huffing breaths of a
Hushed and harried engine heaving
Its hoard of hearts and hopes...
Once there stood a wanderer
Above a sea of fog;
A silhouette on alpine perch
Built of jumbled rock.
He watched the wispy vaspor spray,...
