Youth

Location

We all grow
Expecting to change for the better
We just never know
Or expect what comes later

Our lives afflicted
By the tiniest bit of influence
That reaches deep within our minds
And takes away our youthfulness

Not innocence or morality
Those are locked with you
The values that we held so dear
Can't hold candles to the truth

These kids play and have fun
They'll never understand at their age
Because by the time they do understand
It'll already be too late

They'd have lost what made them kids
They'll never be the same again
People will walk out of their lives
And they'll make or lose friends

I'm sure with what's left
They'll give little regard to the notion
Time will continue to pass slowly
Exposing them to more commotion

I speak only from experience
And observations of many others
As I start to see rapid growth
It's what they'll soon discover

Regret will fill a melancholy man
Or a woman of despondency
Wishes to retain what made them happy
Will always remain to be seen
