YouSoup

You are a good thing.

You are the poems that you devour and that you dream of creating.

You are every piece of art that you love,

You are a piece of art.

You are a masterpiece of everything that inspires you, and the things that make you laugh.

You are a collection of the reasons that you smile ‘till your cheeks hurt.

You are the thought that counts and your procrastinatory habits that you regret when your deadline comes to bite you in the ass.

You are the things you do while you’re procrastinating.

You are the things you blog about and the books that you stay up all night reading.

The hobbies that make your heart happy.

You are a good thing.

You are all of the reasons that people have called you weird.

You are the things you rage and rant about on Twitter

and like, reblog, and  comment on on Tumblr.

You are the songs you listen to on repeat for days when you first hear them, and the albums you jam to so hard you listen straight through without skipping a single song.

You are the things you snap at during poetry nights,

and the Instagram quote posts you love so much you save to your photo library.

You are every one of your OTP’s and the squeals you make when reading fan fiction about them.

You are a good thing.

All your flaws, and quirks, and annoying habits and slightly unhealthy obsessions make you who you are,

You are a beautiful collection of love and laughs and amazing memories and those you’d rather forget, and worthy of everything beautiful in the world that you desire.

Everything that has happened to you has made you stronger, all those and the things that have tried to kill you have failed, yourself included.

You are so much more than you think, so much more than they want you to be.

You are a good thing.

Everyday you are and have been alive and continue to be is a cause for celebration, and your existence makes mine better.

Learn to celebrate your good days, you’ll need them when the bad days come.

When it seems like there’s no hope.

There is.

When it feels like there’s no one that cares.

I do.

When it feels like there’s no one who will notice your absence.

Someone will.

You are more than the things that happened to you.

You are so much more than who they tell you that you have to be.

You are more than the box they try to fit you in.

The labels that have been ascribed to you.

You are more than your identities.

You are more than the boxes you check off on forms.

You are more than your just your race, your ethnicity, your gender, your sexuality, your disability status.

You are more than your socioeconomic status, your education.

You are more than the way that people treat you because of it.

You are more than your body.

You are more than your GPA.

You are more than your family.

You are more than your hidden identities, the things you’re not quite ready to share with the world just yet, and it’s okay if you never are.

It’s okay to keep some things for yourself.

You are more than the number of times you’ve tried to rip that uniqueness from this world.

You are more than the times you couldn’t think over all those thoughts, all of society’s thoughts, so you cut yourself open thinking that the pain inside would be lessened by the pain outside.

You are more than a number on a scale.

You are more than the number of people that know how to properly appreciate your bomb Instagram selfies.

You are more than your trauma.

You are more than your triggers.

You are so much more than just a victim, and you never were.

You’ve never been just anything.

You’re a survivor, so go ahead and reclaim that word.

Or make up your own fucking word, reclaim another one.

You are more than the misperception of your identities.

More than your size, your height, your age, your weight.

You are not a number.

You are more than all of these things, a huge gumbo pot of each of these mixing into one another, creating the magic that is your existence.

You are allowed to call yourself whatever the fuck you want to,

Be whoever you want to be.

Love whoever the fuck you want to,

Because love is love is love is love is love is love.

Never let anyone tell you otherwise.

Never apologize for your enthusiasm.

Never apologize for your enthusiasm.

Never apologize for your enthusiasm.

Never apologize for your passions.

Never apologize for your willingness to speak up about what’s wrong in the world or for your attempts to fix it.

For speaking up for those who can’t.

For being an ally.

For being you.

Never let anyone make you feel ashamed for not fitting into this shitty messy world.

Your fight, your drive, your passion, your soul is worth more than all the precious stones and metals in the universe.

Too good to just be one of a kind, the world needs so many more you’s.

You are a poem, just waiting to be written. Write it.

Your passionate soul is a spectacular sight for all of us, thank you for being you.

Never stop.
