Young Heart
Location
Young man I see you fare so well
In loves endeavors your pride has swelled
But go and love because you have not truly lost
Young man so effervescent in wisdom of each cost
You scoff at my pain as you say a soul is solitary
Young man you twinkle your charm, your smile is what you’ll marry
My sheets may not be wrapped around soft lingering legs
Or the pillows imprisoning flowery remnants of curls from many a day
But young man I know more by not archaic age
But by love so everlasting, death has made me the sage
The debt that all men pay, even one so young as you
My love has all been spent on the woman who faired true
She will be the silent thief, the pearl beneath
Young man she could change all your beliefs
You will melt in her words and lose sight in her stare
Your young heart will entangle in the loops of her hair
Oh young man your passion rages in your veins so blindingly
Though one icy stare bludgeons reality
Insanity destroys vanity, engulfing every breath
And time will have unraveled until your love would have its death
Young man I may have spoken but my words have run dry
My heart has already seen dawns’ beginning and days’ night
My tears are poured from brittle bones, like shells they have hollowed
I pass the time until my body, in sorrow, will not wallow
Young man, no man can take my life when there is no life to take
So from day to day I watch each way of young lovers’ grand mistakes
Young man I cannot teach you love nor save your zealous heart
The world may surrender before your provincial thoughts you depart
For a tree that stands alone falls without a sound
But a forest mourns, a home is lost, as it crashes to the ground
Young man if my heart could breathe it would weep for you today
My bones so cracked and withered tell a story no words could say
