From A Young, Black Girl

Location

I'm a young, black girl who will make a difference

Yeah, life got hard but I am more than a statistic

Facebook has you fooled, All of us aren't being ratchet and twerking

Some of us are trying to make a future by going to school and working

We're not all baby mamas and some are a mother to their child

And on tv it may be funny but we're not all ghetto and loud

Raised in the hood but if I hadn't told you, you would've never knew it

Because those things you use to define a black girl from the hood...

I can say I never nor will I ever do them

I'm in school getting good grades with plans to go to college

Words don't go in one ear and out the other, I actually retain this knowkedge

And please dont take this as a rant  from an angry black kid

Because I'm as chill as chill can be

I'm just asking you stop these overgeneralizations

About black girls like me
