You Found Me (Dedicated my 2 favorite boys)

You found me

Lost in a sea

Of emotion, of anxiety, of hate

You cast out a life vest of hope

Gave me my strength

Now i'm not afraid to swim in the ocean that is life

No matter how many sharks there may be

Or how cold the water may get

You found the true me

Hiding under a layer of fear

Broke down my walls

Brought me cheer

I trust you with everything I have

And you trust me

You taught me

To walk to the sound of my own drum

To see myself as who I really am

That needing help doesn't mean you are weak

That love will always find a way

And that family isn't always blood

You pushed me

to be myself

To not be afraid of other’s opinions

To gain confidence

Because my outside should shine just as much as my inside

You pushed me to love myself

Because my hardest critic is myself

You saw me through my mask from day one

And you still chose to love me

You still chose to be on my side

Especially when I can't be on my own side

Without you

I wouldn't be the person I am today
